
SADDLE RIVER, New Jersey (WABC) -- New Jersey officials have euthanized a coyote after two people were attacked while walking dogs in Bergen County.
The first attack happened near Chestnut Ridge Road and Werimus Brook Road in Saddle River on Thursday evening. A man reported that a coyote had attacked him while he was walking his dog.
On Friday morning, a worker near Chestnut Ridge Road and North Church Road also reported that they were attacked by a coyote. Similar to the first incident, the worker was also walking a dog.
Both victims were treated for their injuries, including bite wounds.
Authorities, including Saddle River police and animal control, were notified of the attacks and responded to the scene to investigate.
During their investigation, officials located two coyotes. One of the coyotes was found dead while the second was acting abnormally, resulting in officials euthanizing it. Both coyotes' remains will be tested for diseases, including rabies.
Police say while it is unknown if there is an continued public threat in the area, they will maintain a presence near the scene and monitor for any sick or aggressive animals.

New Jersey officials are also urging residents in the nearby area who may have experienced a similar incident to contact Saddle River Police at 201-327-5300.
