BETHPAGE, Long Island (WABC) -- Officials in Nassau County revealed new details on Friday about the owners of a deli in Bethpage who were stabbed to death this week.
Police say the victims were killed by their own son and they revealed that he has a history of violence.
Officers with Nassau County's Homicide Squad said there was an argument Thursday morning between a 30-year-old son and his parents at the deli where they worked.
Police say Vito Dambrosio went to the A&A Italian Deli on Hicksville Road a little after 9 a.m. Thursday.
His parents were both there working when police say Dambrosio got into a fight with his 62-year-old mother, Angela Pulisciano, and his 70-year-old father, Antonio Dambrosio.
Officials say he stabbed his mother and then turned the knife on his father.
When police arrived, Dambrosio was still at the deli and officers said he had blood on his hands and clothing.
Police say Dambrosio was estranged from his family following a domestic dispute with a sibling in November and that sibling had an order of protection against him.
Officials say the suspect is in the hospital right now being treated for injuries.
Dambrosio will undergo a psychiatric evaluation but officials expect a bedside arraignment later in the day.
Police say before he stabbed his parents, Dambrosio went to a local coffee shop and slapped a female worker.
A GoFundMe has raised thousands of dollars for the victims and a steady stream of mourners continues to visit the deli, which has been a community staple for more than three decades.
