FDNY drone rescues person in East River

EAST RIVER (WABC) -- An FDNY drone was involved in a rescue in the East River on Saturday.

The drone spotted the person in the water near the Queensboro Bridge. The drone then dropped two buoys in the water so boats could easily locate the victim.

The Marine Battalion then moved in and pulled the person from the water.

There are no details on who was rescued or how the fire department knew the person was in distress.
