2 dead in Hicksville car accident

HICKSVILLE (WABC) -- Two people are dead and two others hurt after a two-car crash on Long Island late Monday.

The incident happened on Old Country Road, near Newbridge Road, in Hicksville around 11:37 p.m.

Police say the driver of a 2000 Volkswagen had just pulled out of the Antun's Catering parking lot when the other driver, a 17-year-old male, hit the car from behind with his 2004 Acura.

Inside the Volkswagen were a 26-year-old male driver and two male passengers, ages 24 and 26.

The collision caused the Volkswagon to strike a third vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Prius driven by a 55-year-old man.

The driver of the Volkswagon was ejected from the vehicle into the roadway, where he was possibly struck by a fourth vehicle heading eastbound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Acura skidded across the road and struck a tree, where the driver was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both passengers in the Volkswagen were transported to an area hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
