JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- Immigration enforcement detained several people over the weekend in Hoboken and Jersey City.
One of those arrests was caught on video at the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Station, and now people who live there are on edge.
City leaders are demanding answers.
"I don't need a warrant, bro. Stop getting that in your head, that's it," one of the ICE agents said.
The encounter happened on Sunday morning as ICE agents were conducting operations at the Light Rail Station in Jersey City Heights and Hoboken.
"I'm recording," Jersey City Councilman Jake Ephros said.
"You can record. I have no problem with you recording. But you're not going to get in the elevator with us right now," the ICE officer said.
"It's my right to be on public transit," Ephros said.
"I'm letting you know, if you do come in, I'm going to consider you as interfering," the ICE officer said.
Ephros witnessed the ICE arrest after being contacted by constituents.
He confronted ICE agents inside an elevator and recorded video as the officer arrested a man who lives with his family in Jersey City.
"Why are you taking this man? Do you have a warrant for his arrest, particularly?" Ephros said.
In response to this arrest, large community meetings took place in both Jersey City and Hoboken.
"It's extremely troubling and to hear that directly from his mouth that they can just go around and pick someone up, kidnap them and take them away," Ephros said after the incident.
The mayor of Hoboken says businesses were impacted because workers did not go to their jobs and everyone is on edge.
"I've heard from several business owners who had employees that were taken yesterday. They were on their way to work. It was a Sunday morning and I don't think anyone had the expectation that this would be targeted at Hoboken," Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour said.
Once ICE officers took the man into custody, local residents recorded and watched as officers in unmarked vehicles hustled away from the scene.
