Suspect turns himself in after two women found fatally stabbed in Nassau County

NASSAU COUNTY, Long Island (WABC) -- Nassau County police are investigating two homicides that are connected.

The two women were stabbed to death at different locations.

Homicide detectives first arrived after midnight at a Wendy's on Austin Boulevard in Island Park. The victim was taking out the trash, officials said.

Nassau County officials say hours later, the suspect turned himself in at a 7-Eleven on Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook, which is 5 miles from the Wendy's.

The manager at 7-Eleven said the suspect was in distress, and he asked the clerk to call the police.

Nassau Police then discovered a second victim who was a neighbor of the suspect on West Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream.

Investigators believe she was killed first, earlier on Thursday night.

Nassau County officials say the suspect is an immigrant from El Salvador who entered the country illegally.

Police are not releasing a potential motive.

The County Executive and Police Commissioner have a scheduled briefing on Saturday.
