Police: Man drowns while trying to save children in deep water on Long Island

MATTITUCK, Long Island (WABC) -- Police have recovered the body of a man who went into the Mattituck Inlet to help some children who had gone in too deep.

The 41-year-old man slipped in the water.

Officials found his body late Wednesday afternoon.
