MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspects accused of slashing a man and pushing another onto the subway tracks inside a train station in Manhattan over the weekend.
The attacks happened just after 11 p.m. on Saturday on the southbound F train platform at the 57th Street subway station in Midtown.
According to the NYPD, the suspects were putting on hoodies over their heads as they walked down the stairs into the station. One of the suspects pulled a mask over his face, police say.
The victims, two men ages 37 and 39, believed they were about to be mugged and began recording the suspects with the phones. That sparked a confrontation that escalated into a fight.
Officials say one of the suspects displayed an unknown sharp object and slashed the 39-year-old man in the hand. The other suspect pushed the 37-year-old man, causing him to fall onto the subway tracks. Both suspects then fled the scene.
Police released the following pictures of the suspects taken on the victims' phones to aid in their search:

First responders arrived and transported the victims to Weil Cornell Medical Center, where they are listed in stable condition.
The first suspect is described as a man last seen wearing a ski mask, purple jacket, brown sweatshirt, black sweatpants and white sneakers. The second suspect is also a man, and he was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, orange jacket, black sweatpants and white sneakers.
Anyone with information about the attacks or where the suspects may be is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
