SOUTH BRUNSWICK (WABC) -- People looking to get the perfect photo for social media are causing big problems at a pumpkin patch in New Jersey.
Owners of Von Thun's Farms in South Brunswick are warning visitors to stop sitting on the pumpkins unless they plan to buy them.
"It's a combination of kids throwing pumpkins, some deliberately smashing them, people sitting on pumpkins. I guess it's a trend to sit on pumpkins for photos and stuff," Tim Von Thun said.
He said 95% of people behave but kids are the ones smashing to pumpkins are parents are just laughing.
"Kids just winging them across the field and parents are just laughing at them, that's the most disheartening," Von Thun said.
If you want to destroy something when you come out to the farm, you can. They have old apples and an apple blaster plus corn blasters.
And they also have plenty of animals to pet.
The farm is also famous for their corn maze.
The pumpkins sell for $10 to $20 a piece and have been protected by the farm workers since June.
"We're fighting with the deer, the weather, the groundhogs, all different factors to try and make sure we get good pumpkins," Von Thun said.
