Stars of ABC's 'American Crime' talk about latest plot developments

NEW YORK (WABC) -- This week on ABC's "American Crime" Regina King joins the cast! King is playing Carter's sister Aliyah. She's a devout Muslim who is a strong, intelligent woman and she's there to support him despite her disapproval of most of the things in his life, especially his girlfriend Aubry.

Also, Benito Martinez's character Alonzo starts to question himself on whether or not he's a good father. He's tried his hardest, yet his teenage son Tony has gotten himself into a lot of trouble. Martinez said that his character's definition of what is "right" will change as the show goes on.

"American Crime" revolves around the home invasion murder of Matt Skokie, a war vet, and a violent assault on his wife Gwen.

Though the suspects being pointed to for involvement aren't perfect, there is a lot we have yet to learn about them and their personal lives.

The show is shot like a feature film and King and Martinez said that is one of the things they love about being a part of this show.

The show is told from the points of view of all those involved, ABC says it "examines preconceptions on faith, family, gender, race, class and other aspects of our social experience with an approach and perspectives historically underserved in media."

You can watch "American Crime" on ABC on Thursday nights!
