
ROCKAWAY BEACH, Queens (WABC) -- A search is underway in Queens following reports of a missing swimmer on Tuesday.
FDNY officials say they received a report around 3:30 p.m. of an 18-year-old missing in the water at Beach 73rd Street and Short Front Parkway in Rockaway Beach.
Several witnesses say they saw the man go into the waters off Rockaway Beach and did not see him come out.
FDNY rescue swimmers, drones, marine units and the NYPD are on the scene searching.
All divers were removed from the water and marine units came up with negative results just before 5 p.m.
One civilian with minor injuries was evaluated by EMS on the scene and refused medical transport.
One civilian remains missing, according to FDNY officials.
The scene has been turned over to the NYPD. Operations are ongoing.
Lifeguards don't go on duty at city beaches until Saturday.
