Stars of 'Secrets and Lies' talk about the new murder mystery

NEW YORK (WABC) -- If you are worried that you already know the end of ABC's new series "Secrets and Lies" because you have read up on the popular Australian series of the same name, think again! Ryan Phillippe and Juliette Lewis, who star in the show, told 7online that the ending is different, and so is much of the show. There are new characters, new storylines and even more episodes.

Phillippe stars as Ben Crawford, a married man with two daughters whose marriage is on the rocks. He comes across his young 4-year-old neighbor, dead in the woods. Suddenly, he's thrown into the spotlight as a "person of interest". Lewis stars as Detective Andrea Cornell who starts to dig through Ben's past. In the first two episodes it is uncovered that Ben is 4-year-old Tom Murphy's father.

Lewis said it's difficult learning the police lingo and some of the scripts have been very challenging for her, but she's getting the hang of it. Meantime, Phillippe said that he loves that the show explores how an "every man" type of person can suddenly be thrown into a situation where he is being scrutinized by the media and police and he is excited to portray how Ben deals with it all.

This season is 10 episodes long and we will learn who killed Tom at the end of the season. If the show is picked up for a second season, it will have almost an entirely new cast. The only person who will carry over to the second season will be Juliette Lewis, who's Det. Cornell will be dealing with an entirely new crime.

You can watch "Secrets and Lies" every Sunday night at 9 p.m. on ABC!
