Watch the 2025 TCS NYC Marathon on Sunday starting with the pre-show at 7:00 a.m. on Channel 7

NEW YORK (WABC) -- This Sunday, some 50,000 runners will take on the New York City Marathon and each one has likely trained for months, sacrificed countless hours, and has their own reason for tackling those 26.2 miles.
One runner's story caught our attention, not just for what he's attempting during the marathon, but for what he plans to do immediately after crossing that finish line.
You know the saying, "The show must go on," well Broadway's Jordan Litz is taking that to a whole new level.
He's starring as Fiyero in "Wicked" and while he may not be defying gravity he is certainly defying limits.
Litz plans to perform in both shows of "Wicked" on Broadway after he finishes the marathon on Sunday.
"And have them not know a thing. That's the goal," Litz said.
He's running for Broadway Cares, Equity Fights AIDS, an organization close to the Broadway community.
"I've sacrificed a lot to to do this marathon. I've sacrificed time with my daughter, time with my wife, time with my friends," he said. "I've sacrificed my voice on stage at times from just being fatigued. I've sacrificed, you know, dance steps. I imagine that all of those feelings are going to come flooding at me as I'm coming up this Yeah. This finish line here."
He and his wife met while they were both performers at Disney World. They have one daughter and his wife is due with their second in December.
He says his costars on Broadway are cheering him on.
"Ally, my Glenda, is just always so supportive. She's always asking about how training's going and commiserating with me and lifting me up if I need some words of encouragement," Litz said.
He loves playing Fiyero.
"I think he has one of the best character arcs in the entire show. He comes out this guy that doesn't really care about anything. And then by the end of the show, he delivers, I think, the line that is the heart of Elphaba says, I wish I could be beautiful for you. You don't have to lie to me. And he says it's not lying. It's looking at things another way," he said.
