PORT CHESTER (WABC) -- The suspect in a deadly home invasion in 2011 was officially charged Thursday in a four-count indictment unsealed by Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.
Jahkim McGhee, 30, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree burglary and criminal possession of a weapon in relation to the stabbing death of his neighbor, 54-year-old Anthony Guglielmo, on September 11, 2011.
At the time of the killing, police had investigated Guglielmo's teenage daughter Nicole as a potential suspect.
"Nicole Guglielmo was prematurely and unfairly labeled a suspect, and has had to live with that for three years of her life," one of her lawyers, John D'Allesandro, told The Journal News. "She and we are grateful to (assistant district attorneys) John O'Rourke and Perry Perrone for not having tunnel vision and seeing that justice was done in this case."
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on the day of the murder, the 14-year-old girl called Port Chester police to report a burglary in progress at their Mortimer Street home, saying that her father had been stabbed.
EMS and police responded the scene and found Anthony lying on floor of living room in a massive pool of blood.
A large butcher knife was on floor, and the victim had suffered a stab wound to the chest.
Port Chester police detectives initiated an investigation along with the Westchester County police, who processed the crime scene.
Police and prosecutors and investigators from the District Attorneys office continued to press the case, developing information as to the identity of the perpetrator.
During 2010 and early 2011, the victim and his daughter had lived in an apartment across the street from the McGhee, who is currently a state prisoner.
The defendant was remanded and will appear in court again on November 6. He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison in convicted.
