Tiempo: Venezuela receives aid from local communities following devastating earthquakes

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- On this episode of "Tiempo," we'll talk about the handful of local New Jersey elementary school students who just achieved a major milestone.
They became some of the youngest students in the country to earn the global seal of Biliteracy en Español.
The award is a highly respected, internationally recognized credential that certifies an individual's proficiency in two or more languages.
The biliteracy scholars are from the Jump! Immersion School in East Hanover. In this episode, we'll dive into their impressive accomplishments.
Meanwhile, Venezuela is currently in the grips of a major humanitarian catastrophe after two back-to-back earthquakes struck the north-central parts of the country on June 24.
The death toll is in the thousands and continues to rise as the days go on. More than 40 international rescue teams are on the ground.
People in our area are working together to send much needed aid.
At the start of this year, more than $7.9 million Venezuelans were already in need of urgent humanitarian support due to rampant hyperinflation, chronic shortages of basic goods, and an ongoing mass exodus that displaced millions of people.
