Long Island 'tofurkey' drive provides new spin on holiday meal giveaway

CENTERPORT, Long Island (WABC) -- With less than a week until Thanksgiving, and so many people facing food insecurity right now, there are a number of turkey giveaways taking place.

In Suffolk County on Friday, there was a new spin on holiday meal give outs for those who love turkeys, but don't love to eat them.

Partnering with Humane Long Island, Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin hosted a "tofurkey" drive as a way to supplement her constituents who've been more strapped than ever after weeks of limitations on SNAP.

If you don't like tofu, don't worry! These don't actually contain it. They're mostly pea protein or wheat and vegetables.
