PORT WASHINGTON, Long Island (WABC) -- An 18-year-old tutor is under arrest and accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl more than once at the Port Washington Library.

Taylor Lindberg is charged with three counts of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to court paperwork, Lindberg was tutoring the child and sexually abused her on May 11.

And then on May 18, Lindberg allegedly told the victim, "I have a secret," and brought her into the basement of the library.

Once there, officials say he told the victim "go to the bathroom now," and the girl complied. Court paperwork says once she was inside the bathroom, he sexually abused her and used his phone to take photos of her.

Lindberg was arraigned on Wednesday and bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

The Port Washington man made bail and was released, according to the district attorney's office.

Residents said they were shocked that this could happen in their town.

"Absolutely terrible, this place they drop kids off all the time, I used to drop my daughters off, this library is top shelf its absolutely ridiculous," said Port Washington resident Ron Salstein.

Detectives request that anyone that may have been a victim to contact the Special Victim's Squad at 516-573-4022 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
