Unclaimed $5.9 million NJ lottery ticket is expiring

ROSELAND, New Jersey (WABC) -- Do you play the lottery? If your game is the Pick 6, and you play in New Jersey, you might want to check your tickets.

One lucky winner is sitting on a jackpot worth a staggering $5.9 million. The catch is that winning ticket is set to expire next month.

The ticket was purchased at the Exxon station at 550 Eagle Rock Ave. and Eisenhower Parkway in Roseland.

"Never came back, we don't know who he was. He could be local, but he never came back," said gas station co-owner Robert Wakile.

The mystery lottery player's cash-it-in-clock is quickly winding down. They have until May 22 to claim the cash, or it's poured back into the lottery pool to fund other prizes.

If holding on to the ticket until the last minute is some kind of strategy - congratulations - and keep your eye on the calendar.
