NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- There was a frightening close call at Newark Liberty airport on Friday.
A United pilot called to the control tower warning that the jet almost hit a drone.
The United pilot was landing at the time and wasn't alone. Another pilot reported seeing the small drone a couple of thousand feet in the air.
Luckily the plane landed safely and there were no injuries.
"United flight 1513 reported a potentialdrone sighting prior to arriving in Newark. The flight landed safely, and customers deplaned normally at the gate," a statement from United said.
Operation of a drone near an airport is prohibited.
