Police: Thief uses backhoe to try and take ATM

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Maryland (WABC) -- A man was caught on camera taking a backhoe, then using it to try and steal an ATM.

Police in Capitol Heights, Maryland, said the thief drove the backhoe for about 5 miles to a bank where he tried to break apart the ATM.

He caused $10,000 worth of damage, but did not take any money.
