Wishing Wall returns to Times Square ahead of New Year's Eve

MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- A beloved winter holiday tradition has returned to New York City ahead of New Year's Eve: The Wishing Wall.

Located on the Times Square's Broadway plazas between 45th and 47th Streets, the Wishing Wall invites New Yorkers and tourists alike to share their hopes for the new year by writing them on pieces of confetti.

The messages will be part of nearly 3,000 pounds of confetti that will fall from the sky over Times Square at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.

"The New Year is a moment of reflection and renewal, and each wish placed on the Wishing Wall represents optimism for what lies ahead," said Tom Harris, President of the Times Square Alliance.

"The confetti of wishes that drops at midnight is another symbol of the spirit that makes Times Square a beacon of hope for people around the world."

The Wishing Wall will be open between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day until December 29. It will not be available on Christmas Day.

For those who can't make it in-person but still want to take part in the project, you can submit a message online at www.TSQ.org/Wish.
