ROOSEVELT, Long Island (WABC) -- A bus driver is being hailed as a hero after evacuating special needs adults before the mini bus went up in flames Monday morning.
The incident happened just before 8 a.m. on Bennett Avenue in Roosevelt.
Authorities say the driver noticed the bus smoking and quickly got the passengers off the bus.
As they waited for another bus to pick them up, the smoking bus went up in flames.
Firefighters put out the bus fire, and the cause is under investigation.
