Artist awarded $1 million grant to replace controversial statue of J. Marion Sims in Central Park

Sculptor, Vinnie Bagwell was awarded the one million dollar "Victory Beyond Sims," public arts commission to replace the J. Marion Sims statue in Central Park. Sims is the controversial gynecologist who experimented on enslaved black women without anesthesia.
