FOXBOROUGH, Mass -- The early part of Golden Tate's New York Giants tenure had been rocky. He was suspended the first four games of the season and struggled in his first game back and early in Thursday's game against the New England Patriots.

Then midway through the second quarter the Giants' top free-agent acquisition this offseason paid dividends. He caught a short pass for seven yards to start the drive and then hauled in a 64-yard touchdown several plays later. Daniel Jones lofted a deep pass down the right sideline to Tate, who was working out of the slot.

Cornerback Jonathan Jones ran stride for stride with Tate but Daniel Jones dropped the ball perfectly into his receiver's hands. Tate tipped it up, caught it upon second contact and raced to the end zone for a touchdown that made it 14-7.
