Monticello fatal stabbing investigated as domestic incident

MONTICELLO, New York (WABC) -- Police are investigating a fatal stabbing Friday night in Sullivan County.

The suspect is reportedly a 9-year-old boy who was trying to defend his mother from the victim.

The incident happened at 11 p.m. Friday in Monticello at the Evergreen Drive Housing Complex, according to the Monticello Police Department.

A 37-year-old man was found with stab wounds and was taken to Orange Regional Medical center where he died following surgery.

According to the Monticello Police Department, the incident was a domestic incident.

The name of the victim has not been released.
