Italy legend Andrea Pirlo has thanked New York City FC and its fans after retiring as a player.
NYCFC's David Villa and Andrea Pirlo were both voted onto the 2016 MLS All-Star Fan XI, announced by the league on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti says that Andrea Pirlo was left out of the Italy squad for Euro 2016 because coach Antonio Conte wants to play with high intensity.
Italy coach Antonio Conte said he is "not happy" that he had to leave Andrea Pirlo off of the Azzurri's squad for Euro 2016.
"When you...go to play in certain leagues, you do so taking into account that they could pay the consequences," Conte said of Pirlo and Giovinco.
"It's a very hard league to play in. There is a lot of physical work and to me, in my mind, too little play," Pirlo said.
