After feeding millions over the past decade, a lifeline for Long Island families is about to disappear.
Several members of the WABC-TV team helped assist the Community Kitchen in serving over 150 meals on Monday afternoon.
The Food Bank for New York city hosted an emergency food distribution event to help federal workers and their families struggling to make ends meet.
"People have gone without for too long, not making payments to them for even another day is simply unacceptable," the federal judge said.
Those who have always been there for the community are the ones in need after the flooding last week.
SNAP recipients are struggling to make ends meet with the program on hold as the government shutdown -- the longest ever -- continues.
