The colorful sights, sounds and spirit of the 44th annual National Dominican Day Parade marched through Midtown Manhattan on Sunday.

Thursday's ticker-tape parade for the new NBA champions will be a first. When the team won the title before, in 1970 and '73, they weren't honored with New York's signature procession.
City officials say 2,500 pounds of shredded paper confetti will be delivered to 22 buildings along the parade route, where it will be tossed from windows as the team travels through Lower Manhattan. New blue-and-orange street signs are also being installed along the Canyon of Heroes route.
Mamdani will host a championship celebration and Key to the City ceremony on the City Hall Plaza immediately after the parade.
