NEW YORK CITY, NY (WABC) -- Playing with fire. As a kid you're told never to do it, but for members of New York based group The Hive, it's their job. The Hive is an all female fire-breathing, fire-eating, fire-dancing performance act. According to their website, they are "one of the world's first all-female fire breathing collectives."

Victoria Elizabeth is co-founder of the group. She said their act is "a juxtaposition of sex appeal and comfort in sexuality while engaging with something dangerous and fun." Their hope is to "inspire other women to be who they are in whatever form they are."

Even the group's name was born out of female empowerment. They were inspired by honey, which as Elizabeth explained is a "decadent substance as well as everlasting." She also pointed out that,"Hives are usually ran by queen bees, so we like that idea too."
Elizabeth said, "We want to inspire you to do what fuels you and what drives you," but warns they people shouldn't try this at home. Safety is key for the group. The performers go through special training and they work hard to ensure the safety of their audience, venue and performers.
