Serial rape suspect has Brooklyn on alert

BROOKLYN That brings the total number of sex assaults to three and each time, the man displayed a weapon.

East Flatbush residents, at first didn't they had to worry too much about the suspected serial rapist -- that is before police revealed that he attacked there too.

There's new concern in East Flatbush as a new report from police say the suspect attacked a woman on Claritin Road in June -- following her home and then raping her.

It's just surprising that someone would do that in this area. I grew up in this area, and it's really shocking that someone would do something like that. It's kind of scary actually," one resident said.

Police had initially linked the rape suspect to two attacks:

One on Church and East 37th Street in May.

And another, this one involving a 14-year-old girl in October, along Avenue N.

Now police say this third rape of a 22-year-old woman is also connected.

The three attacks are linked by DNA evidence.

Police are determined to find this man before another woman gets hurt.

"It's kind of sad you can't just walk home at night sometimes. You have to look around and be cogniscent of everything all around you so much. I guess it's also the times that we live in," another resident said.

Police are urging the women in the area not to walk alone.
