Mother pleads not guilty in son's hotel murder

NEW YORK Gigi Jordan showed no emotion as she entered her plea Tuesday via video link from a hospital. She's been hospitalized since her son died Feb. 5 at the Peninsula Hotel.

Prosecutors say she sent numerous people an e-mail about killing herself and son Jude Michael Mirra before he was found dead and she was found slumped nearby from an apparent drug overdose.

Defense lawyer Gerald Shargel said there's a "valid case" that she shouldn't be held criminally responsible because of her psychiatric condition. He declined to give details.

The 49-year-old Jordan is from Belgium but has been living in New York.
