Foot powder leads to scare at NY's Adelphi U.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. About 110 students were kept inside the classroom building in Garden City for several hours Tuesday as a precaution. Some of the students were taking midterm exams at the time.

Adelphi spokeswoman Kali Chan says the powder was found outside an office in Alumnae Hall. Campus security and local police and fire officials and Haz-Mat personnel were at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The Long Island-based college has 8,600 students enrolled in at campuses in Garden City, New York City, Hauppauge, and Poughkeepsie.
