Orange fire leaves mother, son dead

Two people died in a fast-moving fire that tore through a home in New Jersey late Sunday.

The victims were found shortly after the fire was put out inside the home on Berkeley Avenue in Orange.

The flames broke out just before 11:45 p.m. A passerby noticed the fire and banged on the door to alert the victims, but got no response. He remained at the scene and called 911.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered the bodies of 37-year-old Tanji Dewberry and her 8-year-old son, Evan Soler.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still pending. The investigation is active and ongoing.
