Small marijuana cases to not be prosecuted in Brooklyn

NEW YORK

The change comes from Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson, who took office this year.

The new policy means when officers bring in low-level marijuana offenders with no criminal record, the case will likely be dismissed.

According to the New York Times, the revision was contained in a confidential policy proposal that Thompson sent to the New York Police Department this month as an alternative to court for low-level offenders.
