NEW YORK (WABC) -- Sunshine and a few clouds are expected Tuesday, with comfortable conditions continuing despite a warmer afternoon. High temperatures will climb into the lower 80s, making it a noticeably warmer day than in recent days.

Tuesday night will be mainly clear and not quite as cool, especially along the coast, where temperatures will only fall to around 66 degrees.

The warming trend continues Wednesday as highs reach about 85 degrees. Humidity levels will begin to increase, and there will be a bit more cloud cover across the region. Late Wednesday night, a few showers could develop, particularly north and west of New York City.

Thursday will be breezy and humid as New York City students head back to school. High temperatures will reach about 84 degrees. There is also the chance for a thunderstorm in parts of the area, especially late in the day and into Thursday evening.

Conditions improve for Friday's September 11 ceremonies, with cooler and less humid weather returning. High temperatures will be around 77 degrees.

The weekend starts on a pleasant note. Saturday will feature temperatures in the upper 70s, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. By Sunday, humidity will increase again, bringing the possibility of a thunderstorm. High temperatures will be near 79 degrees.

Looking ahead to early next week, temperatures are expected to climb well into the 80s.
