4-alarm fire tears through Yonkers building
A four-alarm fire broke out in a four-story building in Yonkers on Saturday night.

YONKERS, New York (WABC) -- Six families were displaced after a fire destroyed an apartment building in Yonkers Saturday.

The fire started shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the three-story building on Stanley Avenue.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the four-alarm fire, including mutual aid from neighboring departments.

Twelve firefighters were injured, though none of their injuries are considered to be life-threatening.

No one inside the building was harmed.

The families displaced by the fire received aid from the Red Cross.

Yonkers Fire Chief Joseph Citrone said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but they suspect rubbish in the backyard of the building caught fire after someone set off a firework.
