Ramapo College put on lockdown for 2 hours after unfounded report of armed person
Authorities say there was never any threat on campus.

MAHWAH, New Jersey (WABC) -- Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey was placed on lockdown for about two hours after an unfounded report of someone with a gun on Thursday.

Mahwah Police responded to the campus on a report of a someone with a weapon around 6 p.m.

The campus was placed on lockdown while police searched multiple buildings out of an abundance of caution.

Students who arrived on campus two weeks ago told Eyewitness News that the experience was nerve-wracking.

The lockdown was lifted after the incident was determined to be unfounded.

Police said there was no active threat at any time on campus.
