Long Island man charged with DWI in deadly accident

MELVILLE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A Long Island man has been charged in a deadly DWI crash in Melville.

It happened early Sunday morning on the Long Island Expressway.

Police say 27-year old Daniel Moreira was drunk when his car rear-ended a pickup truck.

Moreira's passenger, 25-year old Ismelda Rodriguez, died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

Moreira is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
