JAMESPORT, N.Y. (WABC) -- Six people, including three children, suffered serious injuries in a two vehicle head-on collision in Jamesport on Long Island.
Authorities said a minivan and a Lexus collided on Main Road around 11 a.m. Friday.
Marjorie Case, 82, of Aquebogue, was driving eastbound in a 2010 Lexus when she crossed into oncoming traffic while failing to negotiate a curve.
She hit a Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Thomas Devlin, 47, of Newton, Mass. Devlin's wife, Mairead, 49, and the couple's three sons - ages 7, 11, and 13 - were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center. The father and children were expected to be transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital. Two of the sons sustained internal injuries. Mairead Devlin underwent surgery at Peconic Bay for her injuries.
Case was taken to Peconic Bay, then to Stony Brook hospital, with serious injuries.
No charges are expected. Riverhead Town Police Department is investigating.
Main Road, one of the major thoroughfares on the North Fork, was closed for a couple of hours during the investigation. It reopened around 2:30 p.m.
