LONG ISLAND Authorities say 43-year-old Jeffery Metcalf was driving his 2003 black Ford pickup westbound on Sunrise Highway east of Hospital Road in East Patchogue at 6:29 a.m. His vehicle left the road and collided with a tree. Metcalf was pronounced dead at the scene.
Metcalf's vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The crash is under investigation. Slippery road conditions may have contributed to the crash.
