Paterson: I'll take pay cut

NEW YORK The governor spent Thursday in Buffalo, meeting with economic development and business officials.

It was at a forum a day earlier that the idea of a pay cut for the governor and legislative staffers was raised.

On Thursday, Paterson said he will "symbolically make the gesture for the state" but doesn't want to ask anyone else to do the same.

The governor is paid $179,000 a year and has use of the governor's mansion.

A Marist College poll released this week shows only about a quarter of New Yorkers think Paterson's doing a good job.
