Perani Arena sees some new improvements

Lighting has been improved inside old arena
GENESEE COUNTY A management group out of Maine is now operating both arenas. At Perani arena, there's already been at least one major improvement made.

If you've been to a hockey game recently, you've probably noticed it. The lighting intensity was so low you could see 10 foot shadows around the players. It was hardly even safe.

Now, $40,000 later, there's new energy-efficient lighting that shines two times brighter then before.

The operating cost is about 40 percent cheaper according Jim Cain, president of Firland Management, the group now operating Perani Arena.

Cain says they'll spend another $5,000 to $10,000 on getting all of the parking lot lights working.

Then, at the end of March, they'll tackle the system that controls heating, cooling and humidification.

At Iceland in Clayton Township, they need more hockey participants. They're working on that.

Back at Perani, the future of the Flint Generals is very much on management's mind.
