Ex-NYPD officer DiGuglielmo heads to prison

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Richard DiGuglielmo said nothing during a brief court session Thursday in White Plains. He was led away by court officers with his hands cuffed behind him.

Earlier in the day, an appeals judge declined to issue the stay the defendant requested.

DiGuglielmo has been free since a Westchester County judge overturned his conviction in 2008. The Appellate Division reinstated it last week.

DiGuglielmo killed Charles Campbell in 1996. Campbell was fighting with the officer's father. The older man was angered that Campbell parked at the family deli in Dobbs Ferry and went across the street to a pizzeria.
