Montclair-Boonton service back after paint truck crash

LITTLE FALLS

The railroad says crews finished making repairs in Little Falls early Thursday.

Spokesman John Durso Jr. said the truck driver has crossed the tracks but backed up after failing to make a sharp turn Wednesday. That's when the train struck the trailer, which contained hundreds of buckets of yellow paint, at a grade-level intersection of Main Street and Fairfield Avenue just after 8:15 a.m.

The paint buckets went flying, seriously injuring a crossing guard who remains hospitalized.

Others who were injured were treated and released.

The truck driver was charged with a railroad crossing violation and careless driving.
