Calling him a flower fanatic, would be an understatement.
"I look through rare, exotic bulb catalogs, some of the flowers are flowers from bulbs that have been saved since the 1500's in Holland," he said.
That's part of the reason why his work is so fascinating.
David Leaser is one of the world's leading botanical photographers. He fell in love with flowers during a trip to the Amazon.
He noticed small bits of life on the floor of the rainforest.
"Some of these are only the size of a quarter, you would step on them in nature," Leaser said.
Once home, he spent roughly a year perfecting his technique, which utilizes technology developed by NASA.
"I take 80 to 100 photographs and then software will look at each one of those images, composite it together and figure out what's the sharpest area of each one of them so I can get that level of detail," he explained.
Like the vibrant center of this beauty.
"You can see the little tiny hairs on a flowers that you would never see with the naked eye," Leaser said.
David's latest addition is Photographs of Rare and Endangered Orchids. He's launching the collection at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, where more than 500 vendors are busy getting ready.
