New Jersey police officer in deadly joyride crash to be sentenced

Lt. Keith Buckley is charged in the death of Lt. Christopher Zerby, killed in a crash.

A New Jersey police officer is expected to be sentenced to three years in prison when for taking a joyride in a sports car then crashing into a pole and killing a fellow officer.

Keith Buckley of the North Brunswick Police Department is due in court to receive his sentence on Thursday.

Fellow officer Christopher Zerby was killed in the 2008 crash.

Buckley pleaded guilty last year to official misconduct.

As part of the deal, he must resign from the police force, give up his right to hold a public job and may give up his police pension.

He has been suspended without pay since 2008.
