Police say there were 911 calls at about 4:45 a.m. of a violent disturbance in the Fordham Heights section.
Officers responded to an apartment building at 355 East 187th Street between Marion Avenue and Elm Place.
A 43-year old man was found dead at the scene with gunshot wounds in his head and neck. His identity has not been released.
A second person who may have suffered a stab wound was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious condition.
An investigation is underway. No arrests have been made.
