Historic house in Oyster Bay gutted by fire

OYSTER BAY

At 9:25 Saturday night, several fire departments responded to 1065 W. Shore Road, the Mill Pond House, owned by the Town of Oyster Bay, for a house fire.

100 firefighters with 15 pieces of fire apparatus battled the blaze and extinguished the fire that destroyed the vacant home. No injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation by the Fire Marshal and Arson/Bomb squad detectives deemed the fire to be suspicious and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
