Another body part found in Village of Hempstead

HEMPSTEAD (WABC) -- Police on Long Island are waiting for a Medical Examiner's confirmation, but they believe they know the name of the woman whose body parts have been discovered scattered across Nassau and Suffolk counties over the course of the week.

The newest discovery was a second arm found in the Nassau County Village of Hempstead Thursday, about half a mile from where another arm was found Wednesday night. Both locations are about 20 miles from the rest of the body, which was found Tuesday in Bay Shore.

The arms have been found with remnants of dress material still attached, leading authorities to believe they are from the same victim.

"It's like a scene out of a movie," a witness said.

It is believed that the woman is 27-year-old Chinelle Brown, a Guyanese national who disappeared from a building in Brownsville, Brooklyn, last weekend.

Neighbors and her husband back in Guyana can't believe what's happened.

"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I just don't understand," Brown's husband said.

He says she came to New York about a year ago and found work at Century 21. He has no idea how she came to live at the Brooklyn walkup, where he says she recently had a fight with a landlady.

"To know that my wife, mother of four, had to go through something like that, I'm trying, I need to understand," he said.

Even though body parts have been discovered in both counties, police in Suffolk have taken the lead in the case.
