Bowery Mission serves up thousands of meals to the less fortunate on Thanksgiving

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- More than 7,000 meals were dished out by the folks at the Bowery Mission on Thanksgiving.

They've been serving up meals since 1879.

Eyewitness News Anchor Bill Ritter was honored to help out on the Lower East Side along with his two eldest children.

They took part in the first service Thanksgiving morning.

They served up a hearty breakfast for those who needed it and couldn't afford one. It was all free.

The uber talented actress and director Bridget Moynihan was among the many other servers giving back on Thanksgiving.
